Locally owned, non-franchise senior care led by Jennifer Prescott, RN, MSN, CDP — Central Texas's recognized expert in home care and hospice.

Our Story
Blue Water Homecare & Hospice was founded by Jennifer Prescott, RN, MSN, CDP — a nursing professional whose career in clinical operations stretches back to 1995. Before launching Blue Water, Jennifer served as Regional Executive Director at Altus Hospice, where she grew the organization's average daily census by 300% over two and a half years. Earlier, she managed three ambulatory clinics at Duke University Hospital serving 36,000 patients annually, cutting fall rates by 75% in just six months.
Jennifer began her nursing career at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia — one of the world's foremost pediatric institutions — and never stopped pushing the standard higher. That relentless commitment to quality is the backbone of everything Blue Water does today in Austin and across communities throughout Central Texas. You can follow Blue Water's ongoing work and community involvement on Blue Water's Facebook page.
What Makes Us Different
Blue Water Homecare & Hospice is independently owned and operated — not a franchise. That distinction matters enormously. Without a corporate parent dictating staffing ratios or service menus, Blue Water sets its own bar. The agency hires a higher percentage of certified caregivers than other local homecare organizations in Central Texas, and every team member receives ongoing discipline-specific education weekly or monthly. Families receive real-time updates through an online care portal — full transparency, always.
The team's boutique hospice model maintains a deliberately low nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring each family has a dedicated RN Case Manager plus 24/7 nursing and physician coverage. Blue Water's approach to specialized dementia care and its unique Parkinson's program reflect the same philosophy: personalized services, consistently delivered by exceptional professionals.
Services We Provide
Blue Water Homecare & Hospice offers a full continuum of senior care services. Homecare services include personal grooming assistance, light housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, medication reminders, appointment transportation, and companionship. The agency's specialized dementia care program incorporates music therapy, exercise, socialization, and rehabilitation compliance support — all provided by trained professionals who understand the unique challenges families face.
Blue Water's Parkinson's Program is one of the few structured, specialized home care offerings of its kind in Central Texas. And for families navigating end of life, the Blue Water Hospice team — including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers — provides compassionate palliative care, pain management, spiritual support, and bereavement services.
